His career began at the Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI) in 1982, where he developed high-speed transmission systems. Transitioning to academia in 1990, he became a professor in the Department of Information Security Engineering at Soonchunhyang University and, in 2024, the Director of the SCH Cybersecurity Research Centre.
