Professor Andrzej Gontarz is a distinguished metallurgist and academic leader, currently serving as the head of the Department of Metal Forming at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the Lublin University of Technology. His career began as a metallurgist at the WSK-PZL Åwidnik S.A. plant from 1990 to 1993. Renowned for his expertise in the construction and use of machines, particularly in bulk metal forming processes, he has made significant contributions to the theory and technology of forging and rolling processes. Professor Gontarz has a prolific academic record, authoring and co-authoring over 160 scientific papers and 11 books. His innovative work in the field is evidenced by his 40 patents, including 2 European patents, and the implementation of over 20 technical solutions in industrial plants. Recognized for his contributions to metallurgy and mechanical engineering, he was awarded the prestigious title of professor by the President of the Republic of Poland in 2017. His research also includes modern computational methods to enhance metal forming processes, making him a leading figure in his field.
