Prof Dr. Seongjeen Kim | Nanotechnology in Gas Sensors | Best Researcher Award
Prof Dr. Seongjeen Kim, Kyungnam University ,South Korea
Seongjeen Kim, born in Seoul, South Korea in January 1961, is a distinguished Professor in the Department of Electronic and Software Engineering at Kyungnam University, South Korea. He completed his academic journey at Korea University, earning a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering in 1983, followed by master’s and doctoral degrees in 1985 and 1993, respectively. With over 30 years of experience at Kyungnam University, Professor Kim has significantly contributed to the field of semiconductor devices and chemical sensors. His research began with pioneering work on chemical sensors using porous silicon, collaborating extensively through industry-academia partnerships and government-funded projects. In the early 2000s, he shifted his focus to carbon nanotubes (CNTs), exploring applications such as high-vacuum sensors and CNT nano-array chemical sensors.Professor Kim’s current research interests lie in high-temperature sensors utilizing silicon carbide (SiC) semiconductors with wide bandgap energy, particularly in the development of high-temperature hydrogen sensors for fuel cell applications. His contributions extend beyond research; he served as the Dean of the College of Engineering at Kyungnam University and held visiting faculty positions at Princeton University, USA.
