Assist. Prof. Dr. Kopač, Matjaž is a highly accomplished Slovenian physician-scientist and academic specializing in pediatric nephrology and biomedical sensing research. He completed his Doctor of Science (Ph.D.) in Medicine at the University of Ljubljana, Faculty of Medicine, where his doctoral thesis focused on the development and validation of indirect voiding urosonography for detecting vesicoureteral reflux in children, pioneering a non-invasive approach that significantly improved diagnostic safety and accuracy in pediatric nephrology. His academic journey began with a medical degree from the same institution, followed by a Master of Science in medical research related to asthma diagnostics. Professionally, he serves as an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Ljubljana, and a Consultant Pediatric Nephrologist at the University Medical Centre Ljubljana, Division of Pediatrics, where he leads and supervises both clinical and academic projects. His extensive international research collaborations have positioned him at the forefront of medical sensing technology applied to pediatric kidney diseases, oxidative stress biomarkers, and renal pathophysiology. His key research interests include nephrotic syndrome, oxidative stress in pediatric patients, renal imaging, and sensor-based diagnostic systems, integrating clinical data with technological innovations for precision medicine.
