Tatsuhiko Aizawa is a distinguished professor and Director of the Surface Engineering Design Laboratory at the Shibaura Institute of Technology (SIT), Japan. He earned his Ph.D. from The University of Tokyo and began his academic career there, progressing from research associate to full professor by 1996. After serving as a research professor at the University of Toronto from 2005 to 2008, he joined SIT in 2009, where he continues to lead research in micro-manufacturing, innovative manufacturing and materials processing, and materials science and engineering. Professor Aizawa has authored over 800 scholarly papers and holds more than 90 patents. His exceptional contributions have earned him numerous prestigious honors, including the Distinguished Achievement Award from the Japan Institute of Metals, the Gold Medal (2017), and the Achievement Award (2019) from the Japan Society for Technology of Plasticity (JSTP). He also received top awards at AWMFT-2021 and ICTMP 2024, and was named an emeritus member of JSTP in 2023.
